Whole Wheat Bread (Nana Bread)

Whole wheat bread with interchangeable additions

Ingredients

Amount Ingredient Notes
3T yeast
3 Cups warm water
1/4 Cup molasses
1/2 Cup honey
1/4 Cup oil any type of vegetable oil
4 Cups whole wheat flour
4 Cups bread flour
1 T salt
1 Cup cracked wheat or millet or 7 grain cereal

Instructions

  1. In large mixing bowl , add 1 teaspoon of sugar to 1/2 cup of warm water.
    1. Dissolve year in the sugar water.
  2. Let double and bubble ~5-10 minutes.
  3. Mix in rest of ingredients.
  4. Stir with wooden spoon until mixed through.
  5. Knead until smooth and elastic adding more flour as necessary, ~10 minutes.
  6. Cover with a clean towel and let raise until doubled, ~1hr.
  7. Punch down
  8. Shape into 3 loaves and put in loaf pans.
  9. Cover with towel and raise until double, ~1hr.
  10. Bake 30-40 minutes or until browned and done.
